Maggie Heim is widely regarded as one of Georgia’s top attorneys for estate and trust litigation, complex business disputes, and legal malpractice claims. For more than two decades, she has litigated some of the state’s most challenging cases, including disputes involving hundreds of millions of dollars, dozens of litigants, and matters that cross state and international borders. Maggie’s exceptional work on behalf of clients has been recognized by the most trusted lawyer rating organizations at both the national and state levels. However, what stands out most to clients, opposing counsel, and judges is the powerful combination of knowledge, skill, and tenacity she brings to every matter.
Maggie’s litigation experience spans a wide range of disputes involving business fraud, trusts and estates, professional negligence, and breach of contract. Her cases often involve complex issues of law and fact, sophisticated corporate structures, international parties and assets, and difficult jurisdictional questions. What distinguishes Maggie’s work from other top litigators is her ability to produce positive results at every phase of a case — from pre-suit settlement through mediation and arbitration, and when necessary, all the way to the Georgia Supreme Court.
Maggie’s skill and results have earned her recognition among Georgia’s top legal talent. She has been named a Georgia Super Lawyer every year since 2019, while routinely appearing on the Top 100 List (2025–2027), and Top 50 Women List (2023, 2025–2027). She is listed in Best Lawyers in America for both Commercial Litigation and Trusts and Estates Litigation (2024–2027), holds an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell — the highest possible rating for legal ability and ethics — and has a perfect 10/10 rating on Avvo. Georgia Trend Magazine has named her to its Legal Elite for Trial Law list every year from 2012 to 2025, an honor reserved for fewer than 350 attorneys statewide and determined solely by the votes of other Georgia lawyers.
Maggie’s cases and legal commentary have been routinely featured in top legal publications such as the Daily Report, Law.com, and the Recorder, covering everything from a Georgia Supreme Court fight over a missed patent deadline to a $100 million exposure case tied to a legal malpractice. She has also shared her insight in print, co-authoring “Outsource Document Review at Your Own Peril” for the Daily Report, and in person, lecturing at Kennesaw State University on issues related to high-stakes corporate contract litigation.
Maggie earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law in 2004, and her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Kennesaw State University in 2000. She is admitted to practice in all Georgia courts, including the Supreme Court of Georgia and the Court of Appeals of Georgia, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Represented an individual and his company in a fraud dispute with Chinese business partners who attempted to defraud the client out of the company, with more than $1.5 million at issue. After a four-day arbitration, secured an award allowing the client to retain the company, plus $150,000 in compensatory damages, $500,000 in punitive damages, and $900,000 in attorneys’ fees.
Gwinnett County Superior Court, 2010
Obtained a defense verdict after a four-day jury trial for a client sued for more than $5 million by a French distributor, utilizing a multi-level marketing industry expert to secure the win.
Fulton County Superior Court, 2010
Represented a corporate client in a securities fraud case against 25+ defendants after the client was defrauded through a financing agreement with overseas companies that manipulated the company’s share price to obtain greater ownership. More than $50 million was at issue, and the case presented novel questions of personal jurisdiction over co-conspirators, addressed on appeal by the Georgia Court of Appeals.
Appellate Opinions
Sibling Trust Dispute (2026) – Secured a Georgia Court of Appeals opinion upholding a $4 million judgment against a trustee found to have breached his fiduciary duty by intentionally withholding trust assets from a beneficiary in bad faith and refusing to administer the trust.
The Kamler Estate Litigation Fee Affirmation (2020) – secured a sweeping $555,000 attorneys’ fees award as a direct sanction against the opposing family members and their legal counsel for engaging in abusive litigation.
Hyperdynamics Corp. v. Southridge Capital Management, 305 Ga. App. 283 (2010) – Weighed in as amicus curiae in a multi-district financing dispute that produced a widely cited opinion mapping the reach of Georgia’s Long-Arm Statute over non-resident corporate and human defendants engaged in a conspiracy.
Alston & Bird LLP v. Mellon Ventures II, L.P., 307 Ga. App. 640 (2010) – Represented a venture fund group in a high-profile win against an international law firm, obtaining summary judgment and disqualification of key expert witnesses at trial — affirmed on appeal in a published opinion that established trial courts’ authority to appoint special masters for complex discovery.
McKesson Corp. v. Green, 299 Ga. App. 154 (2009) – Represented the appellees in a major shareholder fraud suit over a sharp stock-price drop, in a decision that remains influential on Georgia’s pleading standards for corporate fraud and civil conspiracy.
